Australia: Enough Said..

I took a vacation.
Let's just say, I've never traveled by myself, let alone, to a foreign country that takes about 24 hours travel time to reach!
I was Nervous.
But, I'm so glad I did it! I got to spend two weeks with one of my best friends and had a blast!
[ Melbourne, I Love You. ]
The city was amazing and did I mention the accents? (to them I was the one with the accent. so weird...)
Everyone was so friendly and I got to visit so  many awesome beaches and did some insane hikes, I also spent some time in Sydney!! Our seasons are pretty much switched so I went in summer (in Portland) and winter (in Australia) but nonetheless it was GORGEOUS.

The first thing I got asked when I got back was always....wait for it..
"do they really say 'put some shrimp on the barbie' there?"
The Answer: I Didn't Hear It Once.

Here's some phrases I did hear though!
Disclaimer: some left me utterly confused....
1. Good on you! (they aren't referring to how something looks on you!)
2. How you going? (I stared at a store clerk in panic when she said this..HOW DO YOU ANSWER? Left? Right? Im walking? No. The answer is simply..Im good!)
3. Uni (university)
4. Monobrow (I laughed about ten minutes at this one...its self explanatory.)
5. Rubbish (their trash cans literally say rubbish on them! I felt sophisticated throwing something away!)
6. I cant be bothered. (you're not bothering them if they say this..I promise.I apologized when it was said to me..)

...the list goes on...

It was the adventure of a lifetime and I can't wait to go back soon! Until then..I have these photos to remind me! And believe me..I look at them everyday..

I found a Charlie Brown Tree!!!

It was the perfect day....

Every year we go together as a family and cut down a tree! Its a tradition we look forward to all year long! We started planning this day before thanksgiving. (maybe, slightly obsessed)
But, who DOESN'T love this time of year!? It's just so cozy and happy..
...the Christmas music (I've been playing in car since mid-november), it's just the perfect time of year.

I'm off to decorate the tree!! Stay tuned for a photo of the decorated GEM!
